Facebook Contests: What’s not to LIKE?

Here at ChatterBlast, we LOVE a good contest! To be honest – who doesn’t? Whether you’re buying a lottery ticket for $10 million, or putting your name in a box to get free cookies, entering and winning contests is the American way.  Keeping our fingers on the pulse of the digital world, we’re shining the spotlight on three interesting Facebook contests: ProFresh Breath’s Extreme Breath Makeover, the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network’s T-Shirt Design Contest, and Bank of Hawaii’s Vacation Getaway.

The first contest we cover is ProFresh Breath’s Extreme Breath Makeover. The contest is designed to entertain, inform, and create buzz about the Oral Rinse product. Users are asked to write a few sentences about a friend or loved one who has putrid breath. The most creative, humorous, or downright disgusting stories will win. The contest runs for four weeks with one contestant per week winning a patented ProFresh Breath Starter Kit. There will also be four runners-up who will be entered to win the GRAND PRIZE. What could this prize be, you ask? A full year’s supply of ProFresh (that’s a whole lot of fresh breath)!

The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) T-Shirt Design Contest is similar to ProFresh in execution. The contest asks the creative fans of the SLDN Facebook page to enter a unique T-Shirt design concept. The SLDN is celebrating its 20th Anniversary as a non-profit organization that serves to bring attention to LGBT equality in the U.S. military. The recent repeal of DADT, combined with SLDN’s 20th Anniversary is a true reason for all LGBT military members to celebrate. The proposed contest will allow the lucky contest winner to have their unique design featured on the official 20th Anniversary SLDN T-shirt. There’s nothing better than creating art and supporting a great cause in the process. In conjunction with the social aspect, public relations and integrated communications brought this to the attention of their entire community.

The third contest is a sweepstakes that has got us sipping coconut milk and working on our hula dance. Having seen Alexander Payne’s “The Descendants”, Hawaii is as high as Mount Mauna Kea on our bucket list of places to go. The Bank of Hawaii’s Facebook sweepstakes puts our dream vacation within our grasp. The contest offers a 3-night deluxe suite accommodation at the Grand Wailea – Waldorf Astoria Resort and 60,000 Hawaiian Miles. It’s as simple as “liking” Bank of Hawaii’s Facebook page and registering for the sweepstakes. We promise to send you a postcard if we win!

All three contests are simple to enter. Simply click the “Like” button on the ProFresh, SLDN, or Bank of Hawaii Facebook page and then click their Contest Tab on the side. Follow the prompts to enter you name, contact info, and story or design.

The best part about utilizing contests through Facebook is that they are INTERACTIVE. In order to win the GRAND PRIZE for a contest, your story or design must receive the most “Likes” or votes over the other entries. This serves as an excellent way to raise awareness of a brand through the entrants’ personal networks while encouraging participation on the Facebook page. With all these Facebook contests what are you waiting for? You gotta LIKE to WIN!
